Abstract
A roll holder, to hold different sizes of rolls of material, e.g. fabric or wall paper, on any table comprises two end members releasably attachable to table sides and having holes or channels for roll-supporting or material-guiding rods. The rods are cut to table width. The channels may have a pivotal cross-member through which a rod is passed for vertical pivoting. <IMAGE>
Description
ROLL HOLDER (MULTI-USE) This invention relates to a roll holder for multi-use.
During work using rolls of materials there are no provisions for the roll to be left so that it is always at hand and adjacent to the table top while at the same time not actually on the table top and in the way of other operations; so a need arises for a roll holder that can be attatched to different tables so that one holder set could be used for various functions with rolls used in - dressmaking fabrics, arts & crafts, wallpaper, drawing etc., especially for non-trade consumers use at home.
According to the present invention there is provided a roll holder comp rising two holder ends with channels to accept roll support and guide rods so that they may be hooked to hinge vertically and held in place at each end after being cut to table width and with various clips on holder ends so that support rods may be adjusted for different roll size and diameter and that holder ends have means to be secured to the side of a table so that they are removable once fitted, with rolls being able to move freely in either direction once on the holder.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:
Figure 1 shows one holder end. (In block diagram form example shape).
Figure 2 shows rod end hook and hinge example.
Figure 3 shows overall roll holder on a table with measuring strip.
Figure 4 shows end view of roll in relation to roll support/guide rods.
Referring to the drawing there is provided roll holder ends 1 with means of securing 2 to a table edge so that once fitted the ends are removable.
It is preferred (but not essential) that both holder ends are identical as drawing examples are of one holder end that be used right or left handed, universally, having all journals and receiving channel/clips.
The roll support rod 8 can be inserted into channel 3 so that rod end will be hooked and then hinge vertically from either side, with clip to hold the free end in place, for roll loading and removal.
The channels 4 and 5 are for rod 9 roll support with various clips so that rod position is adjustable for different size and diameter rolls.
The channel 6 accepts rod 10 so that rod end will be hooked and hinge vertically and when held in horizontal position will hold material from roll just above table surface and also acting as a straight line marker.
The measuring strip 11 being table length allowing material pulled from the roll to be measured as it leaves the roll holder.
The hooks 7 can hold extra attatchments such as tool holders.
Once in place on the holder, rolls can move freely so that material can be pulled out and rolled back from the roll. Using two holder sets in conjunction can provide roll out and take up.
Being removable once fitted the roll holder can be used on other tables for different uses, fitting different width tables with rods being cut to fit width. Rolls are held directly adjacent to the table surface for direct feed of material from roll to table surface, with rod 10 preventing roll material curling at the unit end as well as a straight line marker.
The parts would be manufactured in wood or plasticXmoulding or sheet materials.
Claims (9)
1 A roll holder(multi-use) comprising two holder ends with channels to accept roll support and guide rods so that they may be hooked to hinge vertically and held in place at each end after being cut to table width and with various clips on holder ends so that support rods may be adjusted for different roll size and diameter and that holder ends have means to be secured to the side of a table so that they removable once fitted, with rolls being able to move freely in either direction once on the holder.
2 A roll holder(multi-use) as claimed in Claim 1 with fixing means allowing holder ends to be mounted and dismounted on any width table, shelf, board, door or other surface edge; to hold various rolls of material of different widths, either horizontally or vertically; so that one roll holder may be used for a variety of roll holding jobs on various width tables/surfaces; in a fixed/stationary or moving/transit situation.
3 A roll holder (multi-use) as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 where one holder end has all jounals and receiving channels/clips for roll support and guide rods; so that seperate right and left handed holder ends are not necessary and one universal holder end part can be manufactured
4 A roll holder(multi-use) as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 or Claim 3 where the rod end peice is inserted into the holder end channel to accept the roll support rod which is then held and allowed to hinge vertically from either side, with the free end coming to rest in the opposite holder end channel, acting as a gate.
5 A roll~holder(multi-use) as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 where the holder end has a hole to accept and hold the roll support rod and the other holder end has an open channel to act as a gate to hold the free end of rod in place when horizontal, allowing the roll support rod to be held at one end while being able to lift/hinge vertically at the held end; with no rod end peice being required.
6 A roll holder(multi-use) as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 or Claim 3 or Claim 4 or Claim 5 with front guide rod also acting as a straight line marker.
7 A roll holder(multi-use) as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 or Claim 3 or Claim 4 or Claim 5 or Claim 6 with hooks to accept clip on accessories such as tool holders for tools in use with the particular job application.
8 A roll holder(multi-use) as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 or Claim 3 or Claim 4 or Claim 5 or Claim 6 or Claim 7 whereby two roll holder sets can be used in conjunction for rolls of material roll out and take up.
9 A roll holder(multi-use) as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 or Claim 3 or Claim 4 or Claim 5 or Claim 6 or Claim 7 or Claim 8, substantially as described here with reference to Figures 1-4 or the accompanying drawings.
9 A roll holder(multi-use) as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 or Claim 3 or Claim 4 or Claim 5 or Claim 6 or Claim 7 or Claim 8 where the roll holder can be mounted at any point other than the end of any table or similar surface.
10 A roll holder(multi-use) substantially as described here with reference to Figures 1 - 4 of the accompanying drawing.
Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows 1 A roll holder(multi-use) comprising two holder ends with channels to accept roll support and guide rods so that they may be hooked to hinge vertically and held in place at each end after being cut to table width and with various clips on holder ends so that support rods may be adjusted for different roll size and diameter and that holder ends have means to be secured to the side of a table so that they are removable once fitted, with rolls being able to move freely in either direction once on the holder, and holder ends with hooks to accept clip on accessories such as tool holders for tools in use with the particular job application.
2 A roll holder(multi-use) as claimed in Claim 1 where the roll holder can be mounted in a place other than at the end of any table or similar surface.
3 A roll holder(multi-use) as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 where one holder end has all journals and receiving channels/clips for roll support and guide rods, so that seperate right and left handed holder ends are not necessary and one universal holder end part can be manufactured.
4 A roll holder(multi-use) as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 or Claim 3 where the rod end piece is inserted into the holder end channel to accept the roll support rod which is then held and allowed to hinge vertically from either side of whole holder when set up, with the free end coming to rest in the opposite holder end channel, acting as a gate.
5 A roll holder(multi-use) as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 where the holder end has a hole only to accept/hold roll support rod and the other holder end has a channel to act as a gate to hold the free end of rod in place when horizontal, allowing roll support rod to be held at one end while being able to lift/hinge vertically at the other end, with no rod end piece required, so requiring two seperate holder ends.
