Abstract

A device for forming a vertical construction joint in a brick or block wall (16) comprises an anchor plate (1) made from metal strip material and metal ties (2, 3) which are attached to the anchor plate on opposite sides thereof so as to project from the anchor plate and embed in mortar between adjacent courses of the wall portions built on opposite sides of the anchor plate. The ties (2) projecting from one side have perforated tongues so as to key into the mortar and resist movement of the anchor plate, and the ties (3) on the opposite side have flat tongues permitting relative longitudinal movement of the adjacent wall portion whilst providing lateral stability. The ties (2, 3) are attached to the anchor plate via flange portions bent at right angles to the inner ends of the tongues and engageable in slot-like receptacles or sockets formed at regular intervals along a central longitudinal portion of the anchor plate. Compressible filler strips (12) are bonded to longitudinal marginal flanges of the anchor plate for closing the joint. <IMAGE>
