Abstract

226,109. Butcher, H., and Lake & Elliot, Ltd. June 5, 1924. Jacks.-A jack comprises an inner threaded member 9 and an outer threaded member 13 engaged by nuts 8, 21, respectively. The inclined outer surface 7 of the nut 8 is in frictional engagement with a ring 6 secured to a bevel gear 4. The nut 21 is connected to the gear 4 when the plunger 24 is engaged with one of a series of holes 25 by the, movement of the plunger 18 mounted in the member 9 caused by the inclined surface 23. The nut 8 is disengaged as soon as the member 13 commences to rise.
