Gaiters. - A metallic gaiter for a laminated spring comprises two half-casings fitting one on +he other to form a box and each comprising a series of overlapping members interconnected as regards the surfaces transverse to the plane of movement of the spring so as to yield to such movement, while the overlapping side cheeks slide one on another. The half-casings are similar in construction and comprise a series of members formed by bending plates a of the shape shown in Fig. 3, the central portions being connected by such means as rivets c to a common plate b, Figs. 3 or 4, or directly connected together by welding &c. The side cheeks of the upper casing, shown in Fig. 4, fit outside those of the lower one, and the casings are connected together by metal strips e, Fig. 1, passing under the lower casing, between the side cheeks of the casings, and out through slots f, Fig. 4, in the side-cheeks of the upper casing, their ends being bent downwardly. The slots f are formed in outwardly-dished portions of the side-cheeks. Greasers g, Fig. 1, are provided for introducing lubricant within the gaiter.
