Abstract

A sport shoe includes a shoe body (12); a sleeve element or removable heel insert (18) having a shape similar to a rear portion of the shoe body (12); and an insole (34) being juxtapositioned relative to the sole (14) of the shoe body (12). The sleeve element (18) has a height larger than a height of the rear portion of the shoe body (12). A bottom (28) of the sleeve element (18) is clamped between the rear portion of the insole (34) and the sole (14) of the shoe body (12) when the sleeve element (18) is received in the rear portion of the shoe body (12) so that the height of the rear portion of the shoe body (12) is extended. The sleeve element (18) is readily removable. The engaging surfaces of soles, sleeve element and insole are provided with hook/loop fastenings. The different heel heights enables the one shoe to be used for different kinds of sport. <IMAGE>

Description

TITLE: EXTENDIBLE SPORT SHOE The present invention relates to a sport shoe, and more particularly to an extendible sport shoe.

The sleeve portions or the rear portions of the sport shoes generally have two types, one is high and one is low. The sport shoes having high or low sleeve portions are provided for different kinds of exercises. For example, the sport shoes which have high sleeve portions are used when the ankle portions of a user are subjected to larger torsional forces during exercise, and the sport shoes which have low sleeve portions are used when the ankle portions of the user are subjected to smaller torsional forces during exercise. Normally, one should buy or prepare at least two sport shoes having sleeve portions of different height. This is burdensome for a family having many children.

The primary objective of the present invention is to provide an extendible sport shoe, in which the sleeve portion of the sport shoe is exchangeable so that one sport shoe provides two selections, either high or low sleeve portion.

According to one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a sport shoe which includes a shoe body having a sole, a fastening materials is provided on a rear portion of an upper surface of the sole; a sleeve element having a shape similar to and being received in a rear portion of the shoe body, a fastening materials is provided on an upper surface and a lower surface of a bottom of the sleeve element; and an insole being received in the shoe body and being juxtapositioned relative to the sole of the shoe body, a fastening materials is provided on a rear portion of a lower surface of the insole. The sleeve element has a height larger than a height of the rear portion of the shoe body. The sleeve element is readily removable.The bottom of the sleeve element is clamped between the rear portion of the insole and the sole of the shoe body when the sleeve element is received in the rear portion of the shoe body so that the height of the rear portion of the shoe body is extended.

Further objectives and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from a careful reading of the detailed description provided hereinbelow, with appropriate reference to the accompanying drawings.

FIG. 1 is an exploded view of an extendible sport shoe in accordance with the present invention; FIG. 2 is a longitudinal cross sectional view of the sport shoe of FIG. 1, in which the sport shoe is assembled; and FIG. 3 is a longitudinal cross sectional view similar to FIG. 2, in which a sleeve is removed.

Referring to the drawings and initially to FIGS. 1 and 2, the extendible sport shoe in accordance with the present invention comprises generally a shoe body 12, an insole 34 and a sleeve element 18.

A first female fastening means 16 is provided on a rear portion of an upper surface of a sole 14 of the shoe body 12. A first male fastening means 36 is provided on a rear portion of a lower surface of the insole 34 which is juxtapositioned relative to the sole 14 of the shoe body 12.

The sleeve element 18 has a shape substantially similar to, but has an outer peripheral size slightly smaller than a rear portion of the shoe body 12. The sleeve element 18 is received in the rear portion of the shoe body 12 so that the outer surfaces of the sleeve element 18 snugly contact the inner surfaces of the rear portion of the shoe body 12. The height of the upstanding walls of the sleeve element 18 is larger than the height of an upstanding heel cup 19 of the shoe body 12 so that the collar portion 20 of the sleeve element 18 extends beyond the upstanding heel cup 19 of the shoe body 12 when the sleeve element 18 is received in the rear portion of the shoe body 12.A second female fastening means 32 is provided on an upper surface of a bottom 28 of the sleeve element 18 and a second male fastening means 30 is provided on a lower surface of the bottom 28 of the sleeve element 18.

A hole 24 is formed in an upper and front end of an upstanding end wall of the sleeve element 18. One end of a shoelace 22 is fixed on the upper and front end of another end wall of the sleeve element 18 opposite to the hole 14.

A third female fastening means 25 and a third male fastening means 26 are provided and distributed on one surface of the shoelace 22. The male and the female fastening means 16, 36, 30, 32, 25, 26 are substantially the hook/loop fastening materials or so called Velcro fastener materials.

As shown in FIG. 2, the second male fastening means 30 of the sleeve element 18 is engaged with the first female fastening means 16 of the shoe body 12, and the second female fastening means 32 of the sleeve element 18 is engaged with the first male fastening means 36 of the insole 34 so that the sport shoe has a high sleeve. The free end of the shoelace 22 is threaded through the hole 24 and is folded so that the third female fastening means 25 is engaged with the third male fastening means 26 and so that the foot of a user is firmly retained within the sport shoe.

Referring next to FIG. 3, the sleeve element 18 is removed. The first male fastening means 36 of the insole 34 directly engages the first female fastening means 16 of the shoe body 12 so that a sport shoe having a low sleeve is formed.

Accordingly, the sleeve portion of the extendible sport shoe in accordance with the present invention is selective either high or low.

Although this invention has been described with a certain degree of particularity, it is to be understood that the present disclosure has been made by way of example only and that numerous changes in the detailed construction and the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.

1. A sport shoe comprising: a shoe body having a sole, a first hook/loop fastening materials being provided on a rear portion of an upper surface of said sole; a sleeve element having a shape similar to, but having an outer peripheral size smaller than a rear portion of said shoe bcy, said sleeve element being received in said rear portion of said shoe body, said sleeve element having a height larger than a height of said rear portion of said shoe body, and a second and a third hook/loop fastening materials being respectively provided on an upper surface and a lower surface of a bottom of said sleeve element, said third hook/loop fastening materials of said lower surface of said bottom being engageable with said first hook/loop fastening materials of said sole; an insole being received in said shoe body and being juxtapositioned relative to said sole of said shoe body, a fourth hook/loop fastening materials being provided on a rear portion of a lower surface of said insole, and being engageable with said second hook/loop fastening materials of said bottom; and said sleeve element being removable so that said first hook/loop fastening materials of said sole is engageable with said fourth hook/loop fastening materials of said insole.

A sport shoe according to claim 1, wherein a hole is formed in an upper and front end of an end wall of said sleeve element, and one end of a shoelace is fixed on an upper and front end of an other end wall of said sleeve element; a fifth hook/loop fastening materials is provided on one surface of said shoelace; and a free end of said shoelace is threadedly through said hole so that said fifth hook/loop fastening materials is self-fastened.

3. An extendible sport shoe substantially as herein described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
