Controllers, actuating mechanism for.- Controlling means 10 for an electric motor 1 are operated automatically so as to vary the excitation of the motor according to the torque exerbed. The motor shaft 1<a> is telescopically connected to a shaft 3<a> carrying a worm 3, which transmits motion through a worm wheel 4 to the driven shaft 5. Axial movement of the shaft 3<a> is opposed by a member 6 connected to a spring 7, displacement of the member 6 acting upon the means 10 through the medium of a lever 8. Another control device, operated at will, may be added to the controlling means 10 so as to reduce or annul the effect of the automatic regulation.
