Jackets and covers.-The textile foundation 5 of a tyre cover extends from the inner surface of the cover at the tread portion 1 and gradually approaches the outer surface adjacent the tyre edges 2, 2a. In the section shown in Fig. 2, the cover is formed with thickened lapped portions at the rim side. As shown in Fig. 3, rubber strips 7 may be fitted between the fabric plies at the shoulders of the tyre. Further, to facilitate flexing at these places, the outer surface may be formed with grooves or recesses.
