Abstract

A securing and locking device which will hold a motor vehicle wheel trim 1 in place comprises template 3 and a locking device 4 adapted to be secured to a tyre inflation valve 2 by use of a key 5. This also protects the valve 2 from unauthorised tampering. <IMAGE>

Description

MOTOR VEHICLE WHEEL TRI@ SECURING & LCCKIN(; DEVICE This invention relates to the security of motor vehicle wheel trims.
Wheel trims have become a common sight on motor vehicles over the past few years. They add style and individuality to a persons vehicle.
Wheel trims however are likely te come away whilst the vehicle is on the move and are usually not recovered. Another problem is thiefs find it quite easy to remove the trims fron a stationary vehicle.
Another problem people have to endure is of vandels releasing air from vehicle tyres.
According to the invention a two piece assembly will be clipped together, cut to length and screwed over the existing vehicle air valve after the original screw cap has been removed.
A specific explanation of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which ; - Figure 1 shows a two dimentional drawn of components used in the securing & locking device.
Figure 2 illustrates how the securing template can be adjusted to fit individual wheel trims.
Figure 3 illustrates how the locking screw can be adapted to fit inividual wheel trims.
Figure 4 shows how a completed securing & locking device would look.
Referring to the drawing the securing & locking device comprises a transparent shaped template 3 which will be of a larger dimension than the air valve access hole in the wheel trim 1, an internally threaded locking device 4 which has notched out ends allowing access to the locking key 5.
In order to fit the securing & locking device the template 3 must be rotated in the required direction as to cover the wheel trim 1, thus not allowing protrusion of the air valve 2 through the nole in the teplate fig 2.
The locking device 4 must be cut to length as to allow it to hold the template 3 against the wheel trim 1 fig 3.
The template 3 will fit together with the locking device 4 holing the trim in place and also preventing tampering with the air valve 2 fig 4.
The head of the locking device 4 can not be removed with pliers etc as it sits in a recess 6 in one or other sioe of the tenplate 3 fig 1.
Fitting and'removal of the securing & locking device is achieved by screwing it onto the wheels air valve 2 using the tey 5 provided, removal is the reverse procedure.

Claims (1)

1 A motor vehicle wheel trim securing & locking device comprising a transparent template held in place against the wheel trim using a locking device which screws onto the wheels existing wheel air valve.
2 A motor vehicle wheel trim securing & locking device as claimed in claim 1 having a twin sided tenplate allowing adjustment to various shapes of wheel trim and various lengths of wheel air valve.
3 A motor vehicle sheet trim securing & locking device as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 having a locking device that can be shortend in length to suit various lengths of wheel air valve.
4 A motor vehicle wheel trim securing & locking device as claimed in claim 2 or claim 3 which can only be locked into place by the provided key which can vary in design for security.
