Abstract
222,303. Maxfield, A. I. B. Sept. 12, 1923. Jacks.-In jacks of the kind in which the lifting screw 12 is carried by a member 4 which can be raised by hand and retained at different heights by a pin 7 inserted in holes 6 in the standard 1, the members 12, 4 are prevented from rotating by the engagement of projections 13, 5 thereon with grooves 14, 3 formed in the internal surfaces of the member 4 and standard 1 respectively. The jack can be lifted bodily by inserting the squared end 28 of the handle 20 into an aperture 27 in the standard. The pin 7 is attached by a chain 8 to a pin 9 which is secured to the standard. The pin 9 extends across the groove 10 and is in the path of a projection 11 on the member 4. When out of use the pin 7 rests in the circular end of the pin 9.
