Fire-bridges.-A furnace fire-bridge comprises a grating a of metal or other refractory material having upwardly - extending slots h formed in the front and horizontal slots g at the top, and a plate or baffle d. Air passing under the firebars f is directed by the baffle through the slots to prevent the issue of black smoke from the chimney. The grating may be built up of bars, and the plate d may be made in parts bolted together. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 17/82, 7791/12, 8540/12, 28741/12, and 136,917.
