Abstract

220,966. Dubilier Condenser Co. (1921), Ltd., (Assignees of Houck, H. W.). March 26, 1923, [Convention date]. Vacuum tubes.-The base 14 of a thermionic valve has an annular conducting band 15 to which an electrode such as an anode is connected, and contacts 18 on the lower face connected with the filament. A restricted portion 13 of the envelope is mounted in the base, and the anode lead is taken up between the portion 13 and the band, and joined to the band at its upper edge. The base extends for a short distance below the lower edge of the band and is slightly tapered as shown at 17. The contacts 18 project for a short distance only beyond the surface of the base or are flush with the surface. Bayonet lugs 19 are provided on the band. The base may be modified for use in valves with more than two electrodes.
