Abstract

A Mancala board. <IMAGE>

Description

Board tame. Descriotion.
This game consists of two component parts.
I. A board made from an-y suitable material.
2. 98 marbles or any balls of a like size and of any suitable material.
CONSTRUCTION.
Tt is suggested that the board is shaped similar to the drawing to offer no sharo edges or corners.
The board has T4 small dish shaped holes in 7 pairs and 2 large dish shaped holes, one at each end. These are called Base Holes.
A smaller board with less pairs of holes may be made, but the game is less entertaining.
This is a very easy and entertaining game for children of 5 years on -wards,adults , the elderly and many handicapped persons can find endless hours of fun and entertainment in playing this great board game.
preferred Instructions.
tr. The oame is set up by placing 7 marbles in each of the I4 small holes.
2. The first person to play takes all 7 marbles out of any of the holes on his or her side of the board and going in a clockwise direction, delivers one marble into each small hole round the board and one marble into his or her own base hole in passing. Do not deliver any marbles into the ooponents base hole in passing.
3. Tf a player starts by playing No7 hole his or her last marble will fall into his or her own base. The player is still in lay, this aDDlies any time the last marble played falls into the base0 The player then chooses any one of the remaining 6 holes on his or her side of the board until the last marble delivered. This marble will fall into a hole on the opponents side, gather all the marbles in this hole and continue olayino round the board in this manner until a last marble played falls into an emoty hole. This marble is then said to be 'DEADt. It is then the turn of the other olayer to play in the same manner.
4. Tf the last marble played falls into an empty hole on the opponents side it is then completely 'DFAD', the same applies when the last marble falls into an empty hole on his or her own side of the board and there are no marbles in the hole directly opposite. However, if the hole on the ooponents side dose contain marbles, these, plus ones own last marble played go into ones own base.
5. The winner is the player who has the most marbles in his or her base hole olus any marbles remaining on his or her side of the board when the opponent has no marbles left to play.
6. The game may end here and be reset for new players or may continue by resettinq with the marbles from each players own base hole only. Rny marbles left over after setting up ones own side go into ones own base.
7. Any holes left empty on one side of the board are out of play throughout this game and must be bypassed.
