Abstract

219,446. Martin, C. May 28, 1923. Jacks.-The cylinder e of a pneumatic jack is made of cold-drawn weldless steel tube or soliddrawn brass or copper tube and is screwed at its lower end e<1> into a recess in the base f. A cover g is screwed over the upper end of the cylinder and has a central aperture g<1> for the piston rod m and a number of vent holes g<3>. The piston comprises a leather disc h and skirt h<1> and is supported by a thin metal disc i resting on a washer k. A curved metal plate l rests on the disc h and bears against a shoulder m<1> on the rod m. The parts of the piston are held together by a nut m<4>. A pump or other supply of compressed air is connected to the inlet o. An outlet cock p is provided. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 27668/06, 25318/09, 23831/11, and 166,138.
