Stringed instruments, tuning-pins for.-A tuning-peg comprises a thumb-piece f, loosely mounted with a washer e on the reduced part a<1> of the peg, and a head h secured by upsetting the squared end c of the peg, the thumb-piece and the head having spiral abutting surfaces the coaction of which automatically clamps the peg to the support x. The spiral surface of the thumb-piece may be formed on a part g fitting in a squared recess in the thumb-piece.
