187,099. Franklin, A. Sept. 8, 1921. Stringed instruments, tuning - pins for. - In a tuning- device of the type in which a pin, H' on the peg engages ratchet teeth b<2> on a cylinder B, carried by a part fixed to the head of the instrument, the cylinder having worm - teeth b<1>, by which it is rotated for fine tuning by means of a worm-shaft C. the worm and cylinder are contained within a casing A to exclude dust. The casing has an integral positioning flange to be located in the aperture in the instrument head. The wormshaft C is locked in the casing A by a part F with a ball-bearing G intervening, or, according to the construction shown in the Provisional Specification, by a pin engaging a groove in the worm-shaft.
