Handles with recessed-back retaining devices for brushes. - A handle b carries a rotatably-mounted detachable bristle member comprising bristles d arranged in helical form around a shaft e of twisted wires. The ends of the wires are sprung into holes or recesses in projections f formed integral with the handle or formed separately and secured thereto. In the construction shown the projections f are integral with a wire h fixed in a groove in the handle.
