Abstract
218,076. Chell, F. J. May 22, 1923. Stuffing-box joints. - Relates to couplings for connecting hose to water pipes &c., of the type comprising a nozzle 1 having one end exteriorly threaded to engage a cap 7 the screwing up of which compresses a rubber packing-ring 9, positioned in conical or cup-shaped sockets 4, 8 formed in the nozzle and cap respectively, inwardly to effect a grip on the pipe, &c. The cap is provided with a depending lug 12 fitted with a retaining screw 13 adapted to enter beneath the threaded end of the nozzle and secure the cap thereon.
