Description

SPECIFICATION System for glazing insulating reinforced glass windowpanes to supporting metal frames The object of this invention consists of a system for glazing individually to a metal frame the two sheets making up a reinforced glass windowpane, thus forming glass panels which may successively be hung on structures at the back, to obtain a continuity of horizontal and vertical reinforced glass sheets, with no involvement of frames or other sealing joints in sight.
To obtain the above result according to the invention, the reinforced glass windowpanes used are formed of a couple of parallel glass sheets, suitably separated by an interspace obtained by the interpositioning of a metal frame, and further linked to each other by a structural silicone sealant section. The glass sheet, facing outwards, of reflecting glass, is of larger size than the glass sheet facing inwards. This device permits to see from the outside only the larger size sheet, which, being made of reflecting glass, entirely hides the structures at the back. The device permits also to glaze the two sheets, individually to the window sash behind. The outward facing window glass is indeed held in place by a two- or four-sided supporting structure, consisting of "U" shaped metal profiles (see Fig.
1) with insertion of synthetic rubber gaskets.
The outward facing glass sheet is glazed to the metal frame by a structural silicone sealing gasket.
The essential features of the invention are schematically illustrated and summarized in the
claims.
In the enclosed drawings, Figure 1 is a section of the metal profile to be used on the upper horizontal side.
Figure 2 is similar to Fig. 1, but to be used on the lower horizontal side.
Figure 3 is similar to Figs. 1 and 2, but to be used on the vertical sides.
Referring in detail to Figs. 1, 2 and 3, number 10 identifies the metal profile, 11 is the synthetic rubber gasket to be placed between the internal glass sheet and the said profile, 12 is the supporting profile for creating an interspace between the glass sheets, 13 is the structural silicone sealing gasket for glazing together the two glass sheets, 14 is the structural silicone sealing gasket for glazing the external reflecting glass sheet to the metal profile, 15 is the spongelike preformed material inserted in order to separate the two sealing sections so as to prevent them from being in contact, 16 is the butyl putty for glueing the supporting profile inserted between the two glass sheets, 17 is the internal glass sheet, of smaller size, 18 is the external reflecting glass sheet, of larger size, 19 is an indicative internal metal structure on which the glass panels are hung, 20 is the metal corner square forming a four-sided frame, 21 is the synthetic rubber gasket to obtain the sealing between the support frame of the reinforced glass windowpane and the metal structure behind.
The metal profile identified by number 10 in Figs. 1, 2 and 3 is formed by a tubular portion apt to contain corner square 20, and by a "U" shaped portion apt to hold back the internal glass sheet 17, of small size.
The outward facing portion of the "U" serves as a support for the structural silicone sealing gasket 14 needed for holding the external glass sheet, of larger size. A small cavity, provided with a throttle inlet, is to hold back the synthetic rubber gasket 11, and a larger cavity, again with a throttle inlet, is to hold back the synthetic rubber gasket 21. A 135O angular appendix serves for coupling the glazed panel to the structure behind.
Although for descriptive reasons this invention is based on the above specification, and illustrated, by way of example only, with particular reference to the attached drawings, many modifications and variations may be made in the embodiment of the invention, any such modification or variation, however, been deemed as based on the following claims.
CLAIMS 1. System for glazing insulating reinforced glass windowpanes to metal supporting frames, characterized in that the internal glass sheet is held in place mechanically on account of the external "U" shape of the profile apt to form the metal supporting frame, whereas the external glass sheet is held in place by means of structural silicone sealing gasket inserted between the said glass sheet and the metal frame behind.
2. System for glazing insulating reinforced glass windowpanes to metal supporting frames according to the preceding claim, characterized in that the reinforced glass sheet consists of two sheets of different size, parallel to one another, so that the external reflecting sheet covers entirely the supporting metal frame behind.
3. System for glazing insulating reinforced glass windowpanes to metal supporting frames according to the preceding claims characterized in that between the internal reinforced glass sheet and the "U" portion of the metal frame facing outwards there is inserted a synthetic rubber garket, suitable form creating an elastic rest in the three directions of the small size, inward facing, glass sheet.
4. A system for supporting an insulating double-glass window pane on a metal supporting frame, comprising a metal supporting frame providing a U-profile for holding the edge of the inner glass sheet and a sealing gasket for insertion between the metal frame

The outward facing glass sheet is glazed to the metal frame by a structural silicone sealing gasket.
