Abstract

217,550. Horsting, W. F. June 13, 1923, [Convention date]. Stretching by tension, -- A frame 1 used for longitudinally stretching leather butts 6, Fig. 1, carries one or more transverse bars 10 the ends of which have attachments 11 for also stretching the butts transversely to remove pockets. Each member 11, Fig. 3, has a shaft 14 rotated by a handle 19 and carrying a sprocket wheel over which passes a chain 23 which is connected to a screw operated clamp 24 for gripping the sides of the butt. The shaft 14 is also fitted with a ratchet wheel 15 and pawl 16 to hold the leather in stretched condition. Specification 217,549 is referred to.
