Wall coverings.-A roll of wall paper having one or more adhesive bands, such as 2, passing wholly or partly around it is provided with one or more sample pieces 3 of the paper secured over the exposed web end 1 of the roll to protect it, each sample piece being so shaped and positioned as to hug the roll tightly and present no edges or corners liable to be caught on projecting parts. For example, the pieces may be diamond shaped, as shown, or they may be circular, elliptical, or octagonal. The pieces are secured to the roll by an adhesive or by adhesive bands passing over them and wholly or partly around the roll.
