Abstract
216,164. Evans, W. E., (Europõischer Verband der Flaschenfabriken Ges.). May 19, 1924. Blowing.-Relates to means for enabling bottles of different heights to be made simultaneously on a machine of the Owens type, and consists of an adjustable or interchangeable intermediate member for holding the ring mould in order to enable the bases of the parison moulds to be brought to the same level. The arms 7 which carry the parison mould 21 are adjustably connected by screws 9 and guide rdds 10 to the supporting-lever 11 so that the mould, whatever its height, can be adjusted to the position necessary to secure the proper degree of immersion in the metal during the gathering operation. To enable short parison moulds to be used, as shown, the space between the top of the mould and the ring-mould carrier 23 is filled in with an intermediate member 22, which is clamped to the carrier by means of adjusting screws 24 and holds the halves 5 of the ring mould. In a modification, the member 22 is made in two parts telescoping one within the other, so that one member can be used with moulds of different height.
