Abstract

A built-in hob unit 2 which is connected to a surrounding edge- protection element or frame 3 is inserted in an opening in a work top 1 of a line of kitchen furniture in such a manner that the edge- protection frame 3 engages over the edge of the opening in the work top 1 and the hob unit 2 is secured in this position against lifting out, at least two spaced apart claws or detent springs 6 being secured to the bottom 5 of the built-in hob unit 2 and detent members 8 corresponding to the detent springs 6 being fitted to the boundary edge 7 of the opening in the work top 1. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Built-in hob unit This invention relates to a built-in hob unit which has a surrounding edge-protection element or frame, and which is inserted into an opening in work top of a line of kitchen furniture in such a manner that the edgeprotection frame engages over the edge of the opening in the work top and the hob is secured in this position against lifting out.
Built-in hobs of this type are generally known. In the case of such a built-in hob unit, which is generally let into or inserted in a work top covering a plurality of cupboard units and electrical household appliances installed underneath in a line of kitchen furniture, the screwing or bracing of the hob unit to the work top is carried out from under side of the work top. In order to render this possible, the work top must naturally be freely accessible from below. But since hob units are also used which extend beyond the common cooker dimension of 60 cm, the mounting and above all the dismounting of such a hob unit involves considerable difficulties because, in such cases, apart from the associated cooker, the adjacent cupboard unit or the adjacent household appliance installed underneath, for example a dish-washing machine, must first be removed in order that the part of the under side of the work top which is over these units may be accessible.
The invention seeks to provide a securing means for a built-in hob unit which substantially facilitates and simplifies the mounting of this hob unit and as a result of which, above all, the removal of built-in or low units to the side of the hob unit may be made superflous in the case of over-wide hob units.
According to the invention, there is provided a built-in hob unit which has a surrounding edge-protection element or frame, and which is inserted into an opening in work top of a line of kitchen furniture in such a manner that the edge-protection frame engages over the edge of the opening in the work top and the hob is secured in this position against lifting out wherein at least two claws or detent springs, which are spaced apart, are secured to the bottom of the built-in hob unit and detent members, co-operating with claws or detent springs, are fitted to the boundary edge of the opening in the work top.
The proposed securing means for a built-in hob unit renders possible a particularly timesaving mounting and above all also dismounting of the hob unit, because the fixing at one side of the hot-plate can be carried out from above when this unit is inserted or removed again from above.
The invention will now be described in greater detail, by way of example, with reference to the drawings, in which: Figure 1 is a fragmentary perspective view of the edge of an aperture or recess in a work top showing a first stage in assembling a detent member for a built in hob unit in accordance with the invention; Figure 2 is a view similar to Fig. 1 but showing a second stage in the assembly of the detent member; Figure 3 is a view similar to Figs. 1 and 2 but showing the assembly of the edge of the built in hob unit to the edge of the aperture or recess in the work top; and Figure 4 is a fragmentary perspective view from underneath showing the co-operation between the detent member and a detent spring or claw on the hob unit upon insertion of the hob unit.
1 designates a portion of a work top which is part of a line or kitchen furniture comprising a plurality of structural units. The work top 1 is provided with an opening (recess) which serves for the insertion of a built-in hob unit 2 which, in the example illustrated, comprises a ceramic hob 2'. The ceramic hob 2' is connected to a surrounding edge-protection frame 3, the supporting edge 4 of which rests on the edge region of the work top 1 bounding the opening in the work top when the hob unit is let into the work top. Two claws or detent springs 6, of which only one detent spring can be seen, however, in the detail illustration shown in Figs. 3 and 4, are secured, spaced apart, to the bottom 5 of the built-in hob unit 2, at its outer marginal region. The detent springs 6 project laterally beyond the bottom 5.Screwed to the boundary edge 7 of the opening in the work top, with the same spacing, are two corresponding detent members 8 which comprises a centering web 9 which projects horizontally and a stop edge web 10. The stop edge web 10 only serves for the precise location of the detent member 8 while it is being screwed on and is then removed by parting off with a knife 11. The introduction of the built-in hob unit 2 into the opening in the work top is effected obliquely from above so that the laterally projecting detent springs 6 can engage under the horizontally projecting centering web 9 of the particular detent member 8.
After that the built-in hob unit 2 is pressed down further until it rests with its surrounding supporting edge 4 on the work top 1 and is thus in its horizontal installed position. Thus the built-in hob unit 2 is fixed in the opening in the work top, at one side. At the opposite side of the built-in hob unit 2, the usual securing of this to the work top is effected from below by means of locking elements.
