Abstract

215,459. Girling, H. P. Feb. 13, 1923. Resistances.-A resistance element comprises a fireclay base C surmounted by a double-pitched spiral containing a heating wire D and is designed and shaped so that a number of them may be assembled on a base plate A in compact mosaic patterns to form hot-plates or radiators, the elements being interconnected electrically in any desired manner by simple connecting links B. The base C may be triangular, rectangular, pentagonal or hexagonal in plan. The base-plate may be of perforated sheet metal or a cast grid and the elements are secured thereto by central screws F or by clamps carried by the base-plate. Various assemblages of elements are shown in the drawings.
