Abstract

The machine has a turntable (10) with a number of equally spaced devices with hinged jaws which place the label around the can. Each pair of jaws consists of a group of three rollers which guide an endless belt. With the jaws in the open position, a label is placed on the belt by a device (42) mounted at the side of the turntable. As the turntable rotates, the label is moved to the can (8) receiving station (24). The jaws then close around the can and the overlapping edges of the label are gummed to each other. The can is then transported to a despatch conveyor (32).
