Abstract

213,870. Monier, F. Nov. 5, 1921, [Convention date]. Addition to 188,636. Spray carburettors. - The delivery of fuel from an orifice 14 at the constriction of the choke tube, as described in the parent Specificafion, is regulated by a tube from the air space of the float chamber which terminates either at a point 59 situated in the convergent part at a distance D/# from the constriction, or at a point 60 in the divergent part at a distance 2.D from the constriction, where D is the diameter of the constriction, or at both these points. A further larger tube 62 having a cock 63 with a wedge-shaped part may connect an annular chamber 16 behind the fuel orifice 14 with the air-space of the float chamber. The fuel nozzle 8 may be either radial or tangential with respect to the chamber 16. The sole throttle 19 is between the air inlet and the constriction; it is cone-shaped and has grooves 28 so that, when it is slid on a rod 42 by a lever 22, passages are left for the slow-running mixture. Passages 17 leading to the annular chamber 16 are closed by a cone-shaped member 26 which is held by a spring 27 against a collar on the stem of the throttle 19 so that the passages 17 are not opened for an inrush of air until the throttle has been lowered a small amount. Alternately, a cam on the shaft 21 of the lever 22 may open a needle valve and so admit air to the chamber 16.
