Abstract
191,400. Soc. Anon. Solex, (Assignees of Goudard et Mennesson, M.). Jan, 9, 1922, [Convention date]. Spray carburettors.-In carburettors comprising at least two main carburetting elements one of which can be in action alone or in combination with the other element or elements and the outlets of which are controlled by a single throttle valve, the air inlet of the first element being provided with an adjustable valve, a valve is provided in the second element between the nozzle and the throttle valve, and so constructed and arranged that it can only be opened when the valve in the air inlet of the first element is completely open and the throttle is in a position to open up fully the first element. Three carburet. ting chambers a, b, c are provided each having a nozzle a<1>, b<1>, c<1>. The outlets to the induction pipe e are controlled by a plug valve f. The chamber a may be utilized for starting, the chamber b for low speed running and the chambers b, c together for running at high speed. To allow of starting by the chamber b, in which case the chamber a may be dispensed with, the air inlet thereto is provided with a valve b<2> actuated by a lever b<3>, and which, on being slightly opened, permits of a rich mixture being formed in chamber b, the throttle being rotated to cut off the chamber a. The outlet from chamber c is controlled by a pivoted valve c<2> which can only be opened when the valve b<2> is fully open and the throttle in the position for full delivery from chamber b. This is ensured by connecting the valve b<2> by a link g with an upwardly turned hook c<4> which, when the valve b<2> is opened, is raised so as to be in the path of a downwardly turned hook f<2> on a rod f<1> which actuates the throttle plug f. Thus, with the valve b<2> open. movement of the throttle to bring the element b fully into action opens the valve c<2>.
