Abstract
213,395. Fuller's United Electric Works, Ltd., and Welch, A. P. Feb. 22, 1923. Converting pulsating into steady continuous currents. -An arrangement of choking coils G and smoothing condensers H is combined with a potentiometer P, switches S, and fuses F for the purpose of supplying a steady plate voltage to the valves of a wireless receiving set from the mains of a direct-current lighting supply. As a protection against stray fields, the chokes and. condensers may be separately enclosed in iron cases, whilst the apparatus as a whole is housed in a metal or metal-lined box. The value of the applied plate voltage is adjusted by means of a tapping X or sliding contact on the potentiometer P, a second tapping being used when power valves are employed. If necessary a series condenser mav be added to insulate one of the mains from earth.
