Abstract

213,102. Barden, G. March 14, 1923. Spring wheels.-The body part a is formed with flanges b, c through which pass bolts d, and the rim part e with flanges g, h through which pass bolts f. The bolts d, f alternate round the wheel and are connected by spiral tension springs i, i<1>, disposed in two planes parallel to the plane of the wheel, in triple-star formation, each star being four-pointed. The inwardly flanged rim part e is fitted with keeper plates p, q secured to the flanges by the bolts f, the plates p. q being slidable between the flanges b, c of the wheel body a, and keeper plates r on the wheel body. In the form shown in Fig. 2 only one keeper plate is provided, the other being replaced by a central cover disc t to which the plate q is attached. Each spring may be detachable at one end. A small knob j, Fig. 7, encircled by the end of the spring has a projecting lug k with a collar l, the lug k being assembled within a bifurcated part m of a link n upon the bolt f, a screw o securing the lug k within the part m.
