Maps &c. - Relates to maps, charts, plans, &c. of the kind divided or marked out in sections and cut and folded in book form to enable adjacent sections to be referred to without completely unfolding. A map or the like divided transversely into an uneven number of sections and longitudinally into an even number is provided with cuts o, p alongeach of the longitudinal dividing lines with the exception of the line adjacent to each edge, and the top row of sections 1a - - 5<a> is folded along the line i on to the adjacent row 1<b> - - 5b, which is next folded along the line l to bring it on the underside of the row 1<c> - - 5<c>. The lower sections are similarly folded along the lines n, m, and the whole is then folded zig-zag into book form and provided with a cover. In another construction, applicable also to maps or the like divided into an equal number of sections in each direction, the top and bottom rows of sections are cut from the map and adjacently secured upon the face of one piece of material, and the intermediate rows are secured in pairs upon the front and back of an additional piece, or pieces, of material, those on the front face being inverted relatively to those on the back. These additional pieces are cut vertically into portions measuring two sections horizontally and vertically which are placed in order in a row upon the first piece of material and sewn or otherwise secured to it along their transverse middle line.
