Abstract
500,599. Maps. LOEWENSTEIN, C. A., and PREUSS, E. G. Oct. 9, 1937, No. 27482. [Class 146 (ii)] A map is divided up into sections, and each section is cut into lateral strips, the corresponding strips being arranged in piles and the strips of each section attached to corresponding longitudinal members which are themselves attached to transverse members extending beyond the longitudinal edges of the strips, whereby the longitudinal members can be raised to expose all the strips of one section. The device comprises two elements 13, 14 spaced apart to form a frame in which is slidable a number of.pairs'of longitudinal members a, a<1>, b, b<1>, &c. arranged on opposite sides of a centre strip 16. Each member is formed of two strips of card, and the pairs are connected together by transverse members 17 extending through slots in the side of the frame. The map strips may be attached to one or both sides of the longitudinal members and are visible through openings, preferably covered with celluloid, formed in the frame. The members 17 bear index marks corresponding to those on a complete smallscale map printed on the frame.
