Abstract

212,063. Auster, Ltd., and Auster, A. C. Feb. 9, 1923. Seat adjustments.-A seat, particularly for use in vehicles, and having an adjustment in both the horizontal and vertical directions is supported by or suspended from links at one edge, and at the opposite edge is supported on a stepped or notched rack. In the form shown in Fig. 1 the seat is suspended at its rear edge by links 3, attached to supports 5 or to the vehicle framing at their upper ends, while pins 6 near the front edge of the seat engage notches 7 in a supporting member 8 secured to the floor. The arrangement of notches is such that the seat, after adjustment, is maintained in a position substantially parallel to that originally occupied. Alternative constructions are described, in one of which the notched rack is carried by the seat, and in another the links are below the seat and are pivoted to the floor. According to the Provisonal Specification, an inclined slot may replace the steps or notches in the fixed member, the seat being held in position by fly-nuts mounted on the projections which engage the slot.
