Binding-posts.-In a terminal comprising a moving and a stationary member the gripping surface of one member is of conical, spherical, or convex form and that of the other is correspondingly channelled or cupped, the members being connected by a shank disposed radially of the curved surfaces; the wire is inserted to one side of the shank. Fig. 1 shows a form in which the members C, D are connected by a threaded shank A, the gripping surface D<1> of the moving member D being of spherical form while the surface C<1> of the member C is of corresponding cylindrical form. The wire E is inserted to one side of the shank so that the clamping action tends to spring the shank to one side. Fig. 6 shows a form in which the moving member is a screw D with a conical gripping surface D<1> and the stationary member C consists of a stamping with an angular channel C<1>. In the form shown in Fig. 10 the moving member C<3> does not rotate but is moved towards the member F by a r.ut D. The surfaces C<1>, D' in this form are both cylindrical. Fig. 12 shows a form in which the members C, D are adapted to be separated by a plunger A<4> connected to the member C and brought together by a spring D<3> when the knob D<4> is released. In another form the cupped or recessed member is formed with a number of small channels of such depth as not to destroy the profile of the recess.
