Abstract

Alkali sulphides are obtained by heating a mixture of alkali thiosulphate and carbonaceous material such as coal, coke or charcoal. The crystals of thiosulphate are preferably first dehydrated. The heating is effected at 900 DEG C. Any alkali carbonate produced is separated from the thiosulphate in known manner. Specification 209,169 is referred to.
