207,770. Hargraves, E. L. Nov. 30, 1922, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Vehicle lamps, directing.-Relates to means for directing motor-vehicle head lamps from the steering-gear and comprises a crank arm 8, Fig. 2, secured to the steering-arm shaft 9 and connected by a rod 10 to a crank-arm 7 secured to one of the rotatable lamp spindles 6, the two lamp spindles being interconnected so as to turn in unison by crank arms 16 and a connecting-rod. In the form shown in Fig. 5. which is applicable to cars of the Ford type in which steering is effected by an arm 23 on the steering-column 24 connected to the front-wheel coupling-rod, a vertical arm 27 is secured to the latter member and is knucklejointed to the slotted end of a rod 30 pivotally connected to a crank-arm 35 on one of the lamp spindles, the two spindles being interconnected as previously described. The lamp spindles are secured to sockets 5 on the lamps which sockets are journaled in bearings 19 carried by brackets 2 secured to the mud-wings 3 of the vehicle. Springs 18 are inserted between the bearings 19 and collars 20 on the spindles for holding the lamp sockets down in their bearings.
