Saw guides.-In a slicing-machine of the type wherein a hand-knife is operated between vertical guides situated at one end of the loaf-supporting table, an adjustable gauge-plate is pivotally mounted so that the knife in its descent presses the gauge-plate beneath the table and allows the severed slice to fall. The table a supports guides c, spaced by a bar d, and the knife f is limited in its movement by a stop h at one end and a similar stop, or the handle, at the other end. The gauge-plate is mounted on a cranked rod j carrying a roller q which engages the knife which moves the plate against the action of the spring p. The gauge plate is adjustable for slicethickness by sliding the hinge l in the bearing m and clamping with a screw o. The loaf may be fed forward mechanically.
