Butt joints.-A fluid-tight joint between the two plates 30, 31 of an elastic chamber, used in a testing-machine, to transmit the load, is formed by means of a ring 34 brazed or soldered in grooves 32, 33 in the plates, bolts 35 being provided to protect the joint. The ring may be integral with the upper plate.
