Abstract

204,127. Coates, W. A., and Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd. June 23, 1922. Oil switches.-The tank of an oil-switch &c. is provided with two vents 3 and 4 at different levels, the upper vent 3 being permanently open to the atmosphere, and the lower vent 4 being normally open to the atmosphere but adapted to close when the pressure within the tank exceeds a certain amount. Any oil thrown up into the vent 3 when the circuit is broken is caught and returned by drains 11. The valve 6 of the vent 4 is controlled by gravity or by a spring.
