Abstract

203,038. Shaw, G., and Thorp, T. E. May 30, 1922. Locking nuts.-A lock-nut of the type formed in two parts in which one has a central recess eccentric to the bore of the nut and. the other a corresponding projection engaging the said recess, and in which the two parts are turned relatively to each other to lock the nut, has diametrically opposed saw-cuts 15 in the eccentric projection 14 to facilitate the locking action. An annular groove 19 may be provided in the projection 14 for engagement with a locking pin 18 which is passed through holes in the other portion of the nut. In the modification shown in Fig. 8, the bore of the compressible portion of the nut is unthreaded and projections 20 are provided to engage the work.
