Description
SPECIFICATION
A Connection Between a Beam or Beams and a
Pillar, all of Prefabricated Concrete
From Swiss Patent Specification No. 598,433 a connection between pillars and beams of reinforced concrete or prestressed concrete is known in which reinforcing rods at the connection point form rows of loops which are penetrated by at least one bolt for the mutual connection of the reinforcing rods. The space between the components is filled out with concrete at the connection point. The pillars have reinforcing rods
the loops of which protrude from the pillar wall, which makes the prefabrication of the pillars more difficult, especially due to the fact that the shuttering must be provided with apertures for the loops.
In another building construction the prefabricated components are screwed to one another. The pillars and beams of reinforced concrete or prestressed concrete are provided for this purpose with metal fittings to which the metallic connection pieces necessary in each case, for example brackets and angle pieces can be secured with screws. High demands are made of the accuracy of formation of such components; even slight deviations of dimension can lead to considerable difficulties in the fitting of the components.
The invention shows a way of avoiding the stated disadvantages of known solutions. It concerns a connection between prefabricated concrete pillars and beams and is characterised in that the pillars have apertures filled out with concrete at the connection points and in that on the ends of the beams metal bolts are provided which extend into the apertures of the pillars and are supported therein. In this way the pillars can be prefabricated with reduced expense, since reinforcing rods with protruding loops are eliminated. Furthermore larger dimensional tolerances can be accepted, because in the assembly of the components it is possible in a simple manner to fix the mutual position of pillars and beams precisely.
The invention will be explained in greater detail hereinafter by reference to an example of embodiment thereof which is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein:- Figure 1 shows a vertical section through the connection of a pillar with mutually aligned beams attached on opposite sides,
Figure 2 shows a horizontal section through the connection and
Figure 3 shows a lateral elevation thereof, one beam being omitted.
In the drawings, the prefabricated pillar 1 of reinforced concrete or prestressed concrete has a through-passing aperture 2 at the illustrated connection point. On the ends of the beams 3 there are provided metal bolts 4 which extend into the aperture 2 and are supported therein. On the under side of the aperture 2 there are anchored metal plates 5 which serve as under layer for the metal bolts 4. Between the metal bolts 4 and the under layer plates 5, distance plates 6 are inserted when necessary, to fix the beams 3 at a specific height position.
The beams 3 have metal tubes 7 in which the metal bolts 4 are longitudinally displaceably mounted. On the outer ends of the metal bolts 4 there are expediently provided means such as eyes (not shown) for the securing of a movable traction member with the aid of which the metal bolts 4 can be drawn forward out of the metal tubes 7 and into the aperture 2 of the pillar 1 in the fitting of the beams 3.
The beams 3 contain reinforcement loops 8 lying in cross-sectional planes of the beams which grasp around the metal tubes 7. Further transverse reinforcing members 9 are conducted out of the top of the beams 3 and grasp round the outer rods of a plurality of reinforcing rods 10 extending above and along the beams 3, these rods being1 arranged extending continuously in the upper part of the aperture 2 of the pillar 1.
The remaining space of the aperture 2 is filled out with non-shrinking concrete in a manner not illustrated. Above the beams 3 there is indicated a cover coating 11 of cast concrete, which may be produced after the fitting of prefabricated ceiling and/or wall elements (not shown) resting on the beams, in which cover coating the reinforcements 9 and 10 come to lie.
The construction parts can be dimensioned so that the connection is not only capable of carrying the inherent weight of the components but reliably withstands the entire loading.
Corner pillars preferabiy possess apertures for the supporting of the beams which do not extend right through.
