Abstract

Troughs for endless-chain conveyers; feeding- devices.-In an endless-chain conveyer in which the lower run is submerged, coamings 3 are used in combination with a feeding shoot 24 having its end 25 beneath the surface of the liquid. Additional guide plates 27 may be provided above the coamings which as shown form the side walls of the trough. Where the trough is shallow the coaming is formed with a horizontal flange which rests on a flange provided on the top of the side wall of the trough. When the trough is deep the coaming is bolted to the side and may be extended so as to rest on the top of the side. The front edge of the coaming may be splayed where the chain enters it, and where the conveyer is inclined a revoluble disc may form part of the coaming to reduce friction.
