Abstract

202,452. Stenning, H. A., and Marine & Locomotive Superheaters, Ltd. June 14, 1922. Smoke-tube superheaters.-Superheater units of the type having a number of tubular elements with flow and return bends permanently connected to sub-headers are made with three tubular elements 6 each having double flow and return bends 6<a>, 6<b> located in adjacent smoke or flue tubes 5 of the boiler, as shown. The sub-headers 7, 8 are detachably connected to the main headers 3, 4 by joints of the bridge and bolt type 9, 10, 11 the sub-headers each having spherical-shaped ends seating in conical recesses in the main headers. According to the Provisional Specifications the number of elements in each group may vary, and each element may be inserted into more than two flue tubes.
