Abstract

201,690. Robinson, A. S. F. May 25, 1922. Lids and covers.-The lid of a milk churn is provided with a ring-shaped indiarubber tyre or buffer 1, Fig. 1, fitted to a metal rim 2 riveted or otherwise secured to a reinforcing ring 4 of the lid 5. The ring 4 has three inclined lugs 6, Fig. 3, adapted to pass through slots in the mouth flange of the vessel and, on turning the lid, to ride along inclines 9 on the flange to give a tight joint. Securing pins 10 attached to the lid by cords can then be inserted through holes 12 in the rim 2 to secure the lid. The modified form of tyre shown in Fig. 4 has a dovetailed root clamped between a rim 13 and a cover ring 14 screwed on to it. Specification 207,364 its referred to.
