Abstract

201,461. Homer, S. J. Oct. 23, 1922. Windows and the like, cleaning. - A tubular casing 3 clamped by a bracket 8 to the edge of a motor-vehicle windscreen carries slidably within it a hollow cylinder 1 having rack teeth 2 along one side and the inner wire 5 of a Bowden cable anchored to its end 4. A spring 7 is fitted between the cylinder 1 and a cap 6 closing the tubular casing, to which cap the outer member of the Bowden cable is fixed, and the control mechanism is arranged on the steering wheel. A toothed wheel 11 mounted on the bracket engages the rack through an aperture in the casing 3 and has a projecting lug 12 to which is pivoted an arm 13 with a tailpiece 15 pressed upwards by a spiral spring 16 thus keeping the wiper 19, which is pivoted to the arm at 18, pressed upon the glass.
