Abstract

Gas at high pressure and high temperature is cooled by water flowing by natural circulation through a U-shaped tube system in contact with the gas, the heat removed from the gas being used to generate steam. The water is conveyed inside the U- tube system substantially without heat absorption until it is in the immediate vicinity of the lowest point of the natural circulation path.
