Abstract

A ship for transporting uniform cargo units on at least two cargo decks (13-15) below a weather deck (12) is provided with longitudinally running conveyors on its cargo decks, lifts (31, 33, 34) for communicating said decks with the weather deck and further conveyors on the weather deck for moving cargo units from one of the ship's sides to the lifts. The ship may be provided with a number of guide-ways, pivotably connected to the weather deck and extendible down to a quay for operating a platform adapted to receive a cargo unit and to move the latter between the quay and the weather deck. <IMAGE>
