Abstract

A heat exchanger (in particular a solar panel) comprises a steel tube 10 (e.g. of serpentine or spiral form) connected to a steel sheet 11 (flat or corrugated) by heat conducting material (e.g. solder 14), the sheet and the plate each having a corrosion- resistant coating 12, 13 (e.g. of tinplate or tern coating). The invention comprises also a method for producing the heat exchanger in which the tube and the plate are assembled between two platens of a press with the thermally-conducting material 14 in a molten state (e.g. by electrically heating the pipe) located between the sheet and the pipe. The assembly is then cooled (e.g. by a fluid passed through the pipe) to solidify the heat conducting material. <IMAGE>
