Abstract

200,975. Smith, A. H. May 18, 1922. Variable-speed ratchet gearing. - The ratchet wheel 13 of an automatic feed device designed chiefly for feeding strip material to power presses, is actuated by pawls 12 carried by a lever 10 which is oscillated by an expansible connecting-rod 1. The connecting-rod is provided with a sleeve 3 in which is telescopically mounted the end 1<a>, a compression spring A being interposed between the two parts and a pin and slot 5, 6 being provided to limit the relative movement of the end 1<a>. The angular movement of the lever 10 may be regulated independently of the crank adjustment by setting a screw stop 16 carried in a fixed bracket 15.
