Abstract
1,045,358. Machinery safety devices. COROCRAFT MANUFACTURERS Ltd. July 26, 1965 [Aug. 10, 1964], No. 32483/64. Heading F2J. In a press, a tool 4 is carried by a plunger 1 slidably mounted in a sleeve 3 attached to the press ram, and locking means automatically lock the plunger 1 to the sleeve 3 at a predetermined position in the working stroke, for example, when the clearance between the tool and the workpiece is a practical minimum. The locking means comprises a bell-crank lever pivotally mounted on the sleeve 3 and having an arm 7 carrying a hook end 18 which is adapted to engage a stop 16 on the plunger 1 when a counterweight 19 carried by an arm 8 engages an adjustable fixed stop 20. The plun- ; get 1 may be spring-loaded so as to be urged outwardly of the sleeve 3. In a modification, the plunger 1 is mounted directly in the pressram.
