Abstract

200,358. Keltie, G. R. July 10, 1922. Wheels.-A roll for a sandpapering-machine comprises a metal drum 7 having a covering 33 of rubber vulcanized thereon and having a sheet of sand-paper 35 spirally wrapped around the covering, means being provided for tightening the sheet. The drum has end walls 8 having flanges 19, and is supported on a shaft 10 by means of hubs 11, each provided with a finger 14 and with an arm 15, the end of which projects into a recess 20 formed in the respective flange 19. The arm and the end face of the recess carry pins 26, 27 respectively, which engage perforations in the sheet of sand-paper and enter holes in the inturned ends of a clamping-ring 31. The sheet is tightened by partial rotation of the arms 15 by means of screws 23 engaging the, fingers 14, the arms being clamped in adjusted position by screws 17 engaging slots 16 in the arms.
