Abstract
199,532. Smith, W. April 10, 1922. Safety cut-off valves, particularly applicable for use in connection with acetylene generators. A hand actuating lever is fitted with a diaphragm actuated release catch. The valve member T is opened against the action of a spring R supported by an abutment S by means of a press lever L pivoted to a bracket K. The free end of the lever has a right-angle slot adapted to engage a pin on a lever H loaded by a blade spring E and operated by a diaphragm B subject to inlet pressure. When under pressure, the valve is held open after manual actuation by the pin J engaging the vertical part of the slot. In the event of the pressure falling the pin comes into the horizontal part so allowing the spring R to close the valve. The valve spindle is fitted with a packing diaphragm.
